Topics discussed:
(1) Blind-spotting: When starting a business, how should you be able to see all  the possible problems and unexpected incidents that come up?
-Make good use of your Content Management System: setup a reminder to notify you when you haven't contacted your clients in a certain amount of time in order to ensure that no one falls between the cracks.
-Create a detailed business plan and regularly review that plan to make sure you stay on track of your present and furture goals.

(1) Preparing for funding: What information do you need to have prepared prior to pitching for funding (to anyone: friends and family, angel investors, and VCs)? Also, what should you not do when preparing your funding pitch?
-You need a business partner with a good track record: check their credentials, check their contacts, and determine if they are "the right fit" for your business and company culture.

Topics discussed:
(1) Business Models: The "Freemium" Model --- How does your business work when you have a free version of your product plus an upgrade version?
-For some customers, once they are "hooked", then they are an addict.
-The coupon method (instead of the free method): only about 3% of customers actually cash in on their coupons, whereas most customers love the free stuff.

Topics discussed:
(1) How do you effectively convert networking contacts into actual leads?
-Don't count on the fact that a network contact you meet or a relationship you're developing might actually turn into something worth value? Make sure that the people around you know what you're doing, and then those people will be able to pass on the word to others since they have grown to know you and your business. You should also take the time to find out about other people, and share information about their businesses in return.

Topics Discussed:
(1) Starting a business from scratch --- What to do? What are your priorities?
- Be receptive to change --- change requires a commitment
- Participate in networking, events & associations: joining associations and attending seminars can be costly in the beginning, but it saves a lot of money in the long run.
- Do a lot of market research in order to be able to effectively target your potential customers, and to be able to effectively sell your services to them.
